Blending 90's Alt Rock, Boom Bap Hip Hop, & Modern Reggae in a fresh & familiar way.

Dylan's start in music was inevitable. It was unavoidable. It was destiny. Growing up in a musical family where his father Mike Peters was a well respected and established musician in the area who attended Berklee Music School, he was surrounded by instruments, cassette tapes, and recording gear his whole life. Not that he would complain about how any of this has worked out.

He has been performing around the greater Lehigh Valley for around two decades. Establishing himself as one of the most unique artists in the area by recording live loops to put unique twists on classics since 2008.

However, after the birth of his daughter, Dylan took some time away from performing, but continued to hone his craft of songwriting, producing, and building the most badass custom loop station you could imagine.

That all changed in the fall of 2023 when he was fortunate enough to open up for Joe Samba at Rising River Brewery in Macungie, PA. That ignited a flame inside and he once again set his sights on performing live again. Except this time, it was different. He was going to be unapologetically himself. He wasn't going to play bar covers any more. The goal was to focus on originals and play the music he loves; reggae, 90's hip hop, jam bands, and singer/songwriter acoustic music. If he's playing covers, it's truly songs he listens to on daily basis.

It was at that time that he started reimagining his looping setup. Dylan learned to solder, fumbled through his way of coding an Arduino, messed around with 3D printing, and crafted an uniquely perfect pedalboard that he could use to control everything he needed. In addition, he started learning how hip hop used drum breaks and sampling to create grooves and started working some classic techniques into his set up infusing new life and sounds into an acoustic act. He knew the sky was the limit with what this set up was capable of.

Armed with rejuvenated spirit and a want to share his music, Dylan was able to open once again for Joe Samba the following year. This led to more gigs at venues like Yergey's Brewing Company, Seven Sirens Brewing Company, and more gigs at Rising River.

In April of 2025, Dylan opened up for Space Kamp in Allentown, PA. They really connected and started working together. This led to Dylan playing bass on a few tracks on their new album Concrete Beach, playing an acoustic storyteller set at One Earth Festival at ArtsQuest, and inviting him up on stage for their album release party at Musikfest.

He has been fortunate to share the stage or played festivals with artists like Joe Samba, Brandon Hardesty of Bumpin’ Uglies, Space Kamp, LNJ Sessions, Elephants Dancing, MSJR, Mike Pinto, Sensamotion, Mike Love, Sister Nancy, Arise Roots, and more!

In the winter of 2025, Dylan released his first EP called Feeling Nothing which features 5 original tracks. A deluxe version is coming out in spring that will feature 4 different versions of each song! The first of those releases is a 90's reprise version of Feeling Nothing coming out in March!

MY SOUND

For Dylan, it all starts with his upbringing. He can trace it back to his father's undeniable passion and love for playing music and his mother's undying love of rock and roll and supporting local music. Both of inspired a life long journey of musical creations for which he is eternally grateful.

Growing up, Dylan Peters was deeply inspired by three bands that sparked his passion for music: Green Day, Nirvana, and Sublime. These early influences led him to explore punk rock’s roots, diving into bands like Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, Operation Ivy, Descendents, Rancid, and Blink 182!

Over time, Dylan’s sound evolved, shaped heavily by 90’s alt-rock groups such as Soul Coughing (he’s a huge Mike Doughty fan), Beck, Citizen King, The Eels, Sugar Ray, and Butthole Surfers. The combination of sampled hip-hop beats, catchy melodies, funky guitar, and playful lyrics struck a chord with him and became a cornerstone of his style.

In late high school and college, he discovered artists like Jason Mraz, John Mayer, and G Love, who gave him a deep appreciation for wordplay and the craft of songwriting—making music that not only sounded cool but also carried meaning. Jason Mraz, in particular, reignited Dylan’s love for hip-hop and reggae (yes, Mraz has plenty of reggae gems). Mraz’s song Curbside Prophet introduced him to Jurassic 5, which opened the door to a whole world of early 90’s hip-hop artists he had initially overlooked—legends like Cypress Hill, A Tribe Called Quest, Wu-Tang Clan, De La Soul, and Naughty by Nature.

During his sophomore year, Dylan was sent a demo by a group called Dirty Heads. Though it was rough, he was instantly hooked. This discovery was followed by Slightly Stoopid, Pepper, and eventually Rebelution. It was at that moment he knew the kind of music he wanted to create—one that blended his reggae and hip-hop influences while staying true to his alt 90’s roots.

Today, in addition to the artists who shaped his foundation, Dylan finds inspiration in modern acts like Stick Figure, Joe Samba, Little Stranger, Surfer Girl, Iration, Tropidelic, Schwayze, The Movement, Kash’d Out, Ballyhoo!, and Bumpin’ Uglies. He also draws creative energy from producers such as Carter Reeves (Surfer Girl) and Johnny Cosmic (Stick Figure). But he's never lost sight of good music being good music so you'll hear the echoes of all of these influences and trace the unique journey that brought Dylan Peters to the sound he shares today.
